Melon D’oyley Cloth

This cloth was adapted from “Melon Pattern for a D’oyley” offered and charted in the “Lacy Knitters Collection: History, Patterns and Directions,” 39th set, Spring 2001. This newsletter is published by the Lacy Knitters Guild (more info below). The pattern is originally from The New Knitter, London, 1848.

Melon pattern cloth

I used four repeats of the pattern with size 7 (4.5mm) needles and “Lily Sugar 'n Cream” yarn in a pale creamy yellow. I think I added an extra edge stitch on each side. I had some notes somewhere, and I’ll put them here if I ever find them.
